Former AAC chief pilot is captain of medical supply flight

Interesting article about a medical supply flight to and from China with a 747-400. The captain on that flight on the Anchorage, AK – JFK leg was David Moriconi, former CFII and chief pilot at the Alameda Aero Club.

First Solo: Kunal Laroia

No runway construction could stand in the way of Kunal’s goal of getting rid of his instructor. While Oakland was busy with incoming jets, Byron’s severely clear weather proved to be a perfect place for Kunal to make his first four landings without the extra weight and constant blabbering of his instructor.

Congratulations!

New Instrument Pilot: Chris LeBailly

Congratulations to Christopher LeBailly, our newest instrument pilot!!! Chris took some time off from work this fall to fly, study, and complete his instrument rating. Chris dazzled DPE Richard Conte this afternoon by answering all his questions and then flying 739UL from Sacramento McClellan Airport to numerous airports hither and yon without ever looking outside, and then landing safely.  He is now “cleared for IFR departure”.

Chris was then finally able to discharge his CFI passenger back in Oakland, as said CFI is no longer required.

Job well done Chris!!!   Next up??? Maybe a  complex endorsement in 747JS??.

Tim Greer, CFII

New CFI: Clarence Binninger

Congratulations Clarence Binninger Alameda Aero Club’s newest CFI!!! It was just a little over two years ago that long time private pilot Clarence decided to take a break from his backwoods tailwheel flying and settle down into training for his instrument rating. Fast forward to today and Clarence has snatched the stone from his instructors hand and is ready to share his passion for flying with his very own students, Congratulations Clarence!

New Private Pilot: Rogier Carper

Rogier Carper had his first flight lesson on May 27, solo-ed on July 17 and passed his check ride on October 30th in N734BN.

After a couple of hours oral examination, a planned flight to KFAT which (unsurprisingly) got diverted to F72 and some t&g and air work shenanigans, Rich Conté decided he had seen enough and deemed Rogier worthy of the sought after private pilot license.

Congratulations Rogier!
