Hi all,
Our annual membership meeting was a huge success. We had 8 pilots take advantage of the free CFI thrice around the pattern with an incredible aircraft rental fee of only $24. We heard a great presentation on noise abatement here at OAK, had a clever preflight contest set up by our mechanic Mark Baird which was won by 2 pre-private student pilots: Erik Klavon and Jim Lutz. We then heard a great ATC presentation by our very own member and membership officer, Will Golden. We signed on one new member and had two other prospective members attend. As the front moved through we tried to stay warm with the BBQ dinner and beverages. Numerous door prizes were awarded after we had our annual membership meeting. Erik Klavon won the door prize of an aerobatic flight, donated by club member and board member Aaron Dwyer.
Many thanks to Will Golden who coordinated this, Mark Baird for all his work in the preflight contest, loaning us his furniture, and giving numerous explanations on the Piper's engine to a number of pilots throughout the day. Thanks to Ben Barron and Judy Barron for also helping set up, get the planes in position, running people back and forth, and shopping. Thanks to CFIs Drew Kemp and Christian Goetz who donated their time and expertise for the touch and goes on 33.
As our new board has been elected, we will be meeting in the near future to determine the positions on the board. The board looks forward to serving the club for another year, and we hope to continually improve what we do as a club to make it a great place to fly.
