New Instrument Pilot: Roland Koch

Roland Koch passed his instrument checkride with Richard Conte based in McClellan on Tuesday, June 11.

“What do you mean you never flew a DME arc?” “Let me make one up for you now”…

First unusual attitude was …. straight and level 🙂

RNAV 33 into Lincoln, followed by ILS 15 … “Unable, ILS out of service” “It wasn’t NOTAMed…”

Oh well, switch to localizer 16, partial panel, or rather no panel, since the stickies kept falling off, so the examiner used his hands instead…. followed by one ILS 16 into KMCC, and there we are, newly instrumented pilot! Congrats!

New Instrument Pilot: Damian Cowell

Congratulations to Alameda Aero Club’s newest Instrument Pilot, Damian Cowell!! This has a project that Damian and I have been working on all summer, and after a delay last week due to the 100 inspection, DPE Ashley Snider was able to get Damian in for his Checkride up at Lincoln today! It was hot and bumpy, but Damian prevailed and is now certified by the FAA to endanger the general public in bad weather as well as good!

New Instrument Pilot: Clarence Binninger

Congratulations Clarence Binninger, Alameda Aero Club’s newest instrument rated pilot! Clarence dragged his instructor out of bed at 6am today and together they flew to Lincoln airport where Clarence impressed his examiner with some very nice instrument flying! If you see Clarence around the club give him a pat on the back! Now go punch some holes in the clouds!

New Instrument Pilot: Maggie Borth

Congratulations to Maggie Borth on a successful Instrument checkride up at Columbia with DPE Ken Cobb! Special thanks also to Andrew Kilroy for doing a late night GPS update so the airplane was legal for the checkride. Also special thanks to Matthew Evjen for a quick cylinder swap on Tuesday so that both Maggie and James Burgess could get’er done! Two days, two successful checkrides.

Jake Rosenbaum is now a CFII!

Jake flew up to Calaveras Co. airport on Monday Jan 22 in IMC all the way and successfully completed his CFII check ride with DPE Rob Davids. After an Obstacle Departure, a DME Arc around Linden VOR, some Maneuvers like steep turns, and the GPS 31 approach he is a proud instrument instructor on his first try! Congratulations Jake!
