About Us

Alameda Aero Club

Alameda Aero Club has always been a not-for-profit club dedicated to making flying accessible and affordable to everyone. We are based at the Oakland International Airport (KOAK) in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. We welcome new members from anywhere in the area and from all walks of life!

The club was formed in the 1980s at the (now-closed) Naval Air Station (NAS) Alameda near Oakland, and moved to its current location over ten years ago. Our headquarters are in one of the hangars at the “Old T’s” on KOAK’s North Field.

We have about 150 members and a varied fleet of aircraft. We rely solely on member dues and rental income from the planes to keep us financially solvent, and on members’ voluntary work to keep the club organized and working efficiently. We are safety-conscious and professionally maintain our aircraft at all times.

Our Goals

  • Provide the “bells and whistles” found in more expensive, larger clubs.
  • Let you check schedules and reserve safe, reliable planes from anywhere using an online reservation system.
  • Flying does not empty your wallet regardless of your mission (e.g., learning to fly, gaining an advanced rating, etc.).
  • Maintain aircraft with a dedicated maintenance manager and a team of plane captains who set the highest aircraft safety and reliability standards.
  • Membership that cares about the cleanliness and well-being of their planes.
  • Provide a comprehensive insurance plan for both in-motion and not-in-motion accidents.
